The Hub for Canadian Women in STEM

My name is Lida Tohidi

I am an entrepreneur.

When I was 10 I wanted to be a doctor.

I am proud of being an ambitious risk-taker and the youngest in many endeavours. I have completed an Honours BSc in Canada, and an MBA in Switzerland, both in highly-selective programs. I have also completed successful projects in Australia, Bénin, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Malawi, Peru, Switzerland, UAE, and USA.

I work as a founder and CEO, consultancy in cleantech

The biggest obstacle I have faced is the ‘age gap’/’grey hair’ issue. I’ve had to overcome it several times in my career, as I tend to be the youngest in whatever position/project with which I am involved.

My advice to women is that there are many websites and organizations for careers/outlooks about the STEM industry. However, there is no one-sized-fits-all approach to choosing your field. The way to truly acquire success is to be passionate about what you do – this is often stated, but not often practised. Best of luck to you!
