Nicole Verkindt

Portraits of Strength features women in STEM who have helped break barriers and achieved great things within their industry. These are the movers and shakers making a better world for future female leaders in STEM. Here are the stories of how they’re changing the ratio, serving as role models for girls and young women across Canada, and inspiring us all.

My name is Nicole Verkindt

I am an entrepreneur

When I was 10 I wanted to be a pilot

I work as a Founder & President, Aerospace/Space/Defence

I am proud of launching OMX (theomx.com). It started and remains as an idea much bigger than myself, and along the way has required an enormous amount of focus and effort by many individuals on the OMX team, in industry and all around. It is incredibly rewarding to see this platform working.

The biggest obstacle I have faced is changing behaviour. Real technology plays are about building a beautiful product, but more so about changing behaviour and bringing value through that change. Creating catalysts to change that behaviour is by far the biggest obstacle.

My advice to women is stay positive. Surround yourself with great people. Do your homework. Stay the course.
