Helen Papagiannis

Portraits of Strength features women in STEM who have helped break barriers and achieved great things within their industry. These are the movers and shakers making a better world for future female leaders in STEM. Here are the stories of how they’re changing the ratio, serving as role models for girls and young women across Canada, and inspiring us all.

My name is Dr. Helen Papagiannis, Ph.D.

I am a Public Speaker and Author.

When I was 10 I wanted to be an Artist.

I work as an Augmented Reality Specialist, Public Speaker, Author.

I am proud of completing my Ph.D. specializing in Augmented Reality (AR) and being recognized as an innovator and thought leader in my field. It has taken me around the world speaking about the possibilities of this new medium and engaging in conversations on how AR can extend human capacity and the human imagination.

The biggest obstacle I have faced was Taking a chance on a technology entirely new to me at a time fairly unknown to the rest of the world and dedicating a decade to relentlessly champion its cause.

My advice to women is imagine it. Dream big. Then make it a reality. We have a whole new terrain to define and I need your help designing the future! Sketch. Tinker. Experiment. Break. Make. Repeat! Be confident in your dreams and surround yourself with an excellent community of supporters, thinkers, and doers.
