I am a Developer
When I was 10 I wanted to be an artist, a writer, or a designer!
I work as a Web Designer and Front-End Developer
I am proud of how far I’ve come since I first decided to get into this field. I’ve learned so much and I’ve had such amazing mentors along the way, and my confidence in web development has gone way up. I’ve also had a little web app called “How’s Your Hair?” featured on Jezabel and The Huffington Post, so that is cool too!
The biggest obstacle I have faced is my own self-doubt. I never felt like the web development industry was welcoming to women, so it took me a long time to dive into this industry – which I now love!
My advice to women is never doubt your own capabilities, and similarly, don’t let anyone place doubts on you or tell you that you can’t do something. Most importantly, work with other women who have similar interests as you. We need to support each other and not compete.
